LOS ANGELES: Canadian rapper Tory Lanez offered Megan Thee Stallion $1 million not to tell police he shot her in the foot, he told a Los Angeles court on Tuesday.
Lenz, whose real name is Daystar Patterson, denies charges related to his 2020 feud with the rap queen, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and using a firearm to cause bodily harm.
The “WAP” hitmaker said she was in a car with Lenz, her bodyguard and her friend Kelsey Harris after a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood home in July of that year when the altercation broke out.
Megan The Stallion — whose real name is Megan Pete — said she and Laneys had become close in the months leading up to the incident.
The “Hot Girl Summer” artist said in mid-2020 — in the wake of the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor — that she didn’t want to talk to officers.
“Right now, we’re at the height of police brutality… I felt like if I said the person shot me, they could shoot first and ask questions later,” he said. said
“I don’t feel safe in a car. I don’t feel safe with police officers.”
Earlier the trial in downtown Los Angeles heard how a gun that was still hot to the touch was found on the floor near where Lenz had been sitting.
Both Lenz and Harris later tested positive for gunshot residue, a prosecutor said.
Megan Thee Stallion told the court she felt she had been “turned into some kind of villain” as a result of the shooting, while the male-dominated rap world often seems to be against her.
But he also admitted he had lied on television when he denied having an affair with Lenz.
