Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to the US earlier this month has pushed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity in the US to ‘second place’, a royal expert has suggested.
According to royal expert Jenny Bond, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ three-day trip to the Earthshot Prize ceremony in Boston at the start of December was ‘bigger news’ in the US than the Sussexes’ Netflix documentary. Harry and Meghan.
Talking to Okay fine! MagazineBond said: “I don’t believe the Harry and Meghan documentary overshadowed things in the States, because the biggest news there was William and Catherine’s visit.”
He added: “They never went into that much detail about Harry and Meghan, so it knocked them into second place.”
Bond then added that Prince William had ‘grown up and soldiered on’ with his trip despite releasing a bombshell trailer for his Netflix show during his brother Prince Harry’s visit.
“They’ve put their heads down, worked with things and risen above the hoo-ha. Earthshot is a huge success – it’s very admirable and clever and very much in light of projects around the world. Successful.”
“But they also hit Harry and Meghan with how they played down the tour in terms of extravagance,” Bond continued.
Bond’s comments came as ratings from the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board showed that fewer than a million people in the US tune in to watch Prince Harry and Meghan’s show on Netflix.
It’s worth noting that the second, final half of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix show is set to release on December 15, 2022.
